The Carroll Villa Bed & Breakfast Hotel is located in historic Cape May, New Jersey.Take the Garden State Parkway south to its end (milepost 0). Continue driving straight to the center of the city. At Jackson Street, turn left. The Carroll Villa is located on the left, one half block past the Washington Street Mall, as you drive toward the ocean.Since we are a historic hotel (built in 1882) on a historic street, we do not have parking on the premises. Since we would like to offer free parking, we provide our house guests with permits for the municipal lot on Bank Street, just three blocks down.
Built in 1859, the Cape May Lighthouse is still an aid to navigation. Visitors who climb the 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse are rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay.
The shops of Cape May’s Washington Street Mall are privately or family owned. Several have been in the same families for generations. Awnings are still cranked down to shelter merchandise from the morning (or evening) sun. Merchants can still be seen sweeping the sidewalks in front of their shops. Ice cream parlors, sidewalk cafes, and restaurants are everywhere offering oases of refreshment. Flowers abound. In the summer, the Mall is the place to explore after dinner and before the bands start. Enjoy the many fine stores and restaurants on Cape May’s Washington Street Mall during the winter months, when shopping is a pleasure. With knowledgeable merchants, many special services and a large variety of merchandise at great prices you’ll discover Cape May’s year round charm.
