Exploring Cape May, NJ
Hiking
We know an apple a day keeps the doctor away but what about hiking? It is definitely fuel for the soul to spend some time outdoors and there is fantastic hiking in Cape May. A popular one around here for locals and visitors alike is the Higbee Beach Loop Trail. This trail takes you on a roughly three-mile adventure through the beach, woods, and wildlife preserves. It is appropriate for all skill levels and a great place to catch a sunset!
Museum
Second, we want to highlight the newly Christened Harriet Tubman Museum. Many aren’t aware of the connection between Harriet Tubman and Cape May. In the summer of 1852, and possibly other summers, Tubman came to Cape May to work in hotels and with families as a cook. She was raising money to fund her Underground Railroad missions that were bringing enslaved people to freedom. Smithsonian Magazine declared it one of 2020′s most-anticipated museums in the country. In the museum there are artifacts of slavery and abolitionist history, as well as an African art and history collection.
The Water
A top reason our resort town is a vacation destination is the water! Whether you want to just get out on a boat, do some fishing, enjoy whale-watching, or try kayaking, there is plenty of fun to be had. Local boating companies offer all sorts of fishing trips. We highly encourage you consider paddling your own kayak through the beautiful wetlands. Check out rentals from Miss Chris Marina, Aqua Trails, or Cape Kayaks.
